Some weddings have a theme. Emily and Dave’s wedding at Weston Hall in Stafford on the 18th August 2025 had a universe!
From the moment I arrived it was clear this wasn’t going to be an ordinary wedding day, in the best possible way. Doctor Who ran through the whole wedding like a thread, subtle enough to feel personal rather than costume-party. Emily’s dad had spent weeks 3D printing Doctor Who villains – Daleks, Cybermen, Ood the lot, one for each table and finished to a standard that would have looked at home in a prop department. As table names go, it was one of the most fun, personal and impressive things I’ve ever seen at a wedding.
Weston Hall, Stafford
Weston Hall is a stunning Grade II listed manor house set in beautiful Staffordshire countryside, and it made for a genuinely gorgeous backdrop for the day. The grounds are expansive and well-kept, the interiors have real character with exposed stonework, period features, tall windows that let in beautiful natural light and the outdoor ceremony space is one of the nicest I’ve worked in. If you’re looking for a wedding venue in Staffordshire that combines history, elegance and a relaxed countryside feel, Weston Hall is well worth a look.
An unexpected guest
Just before Emily arrived for the outdoor ceremony, with guests seated and the atmosphere building nicely, a chicken walked casually along the aisle, surveyed the assembled crowd with what I can only describe as quiet authority, and then wandered off again – not everyone spotted it but thankfully there’s a photo of the curious little wedding crasher.
The Ceremony
Emily and Dave’s ceremony was one of those that reminds you why you do this job. Genuinely emotional, warm and full of personality. There were tears, laughs and and lot of love shared amongst the family and friends.
A day full of real moments
Emily and Dave are exactly the kind of couple I love working with. They are relaxed, warm and completely themselves. The day never felt like a performance. It felt like a celebration, surrounded by people who genuinely love them, in a beautiful venue that gave us everything we needed photographically.
The Doctor Who villains watched over the reception with impressive menace. The chicken did not return.
It was a brilliant day.
