Some engagement shoots have a clear look with a dramatic location, a grand gesture, an elaborate concept. Olivia and Scott’s photoshoot on the 28th June last year had something better than any of that: long grass, beautiful Kinver countryside, and a West Highland White Terrier called Loki who took to the camera like he’d been doing this his whole life.

We headed out into the family fields just outside Kinver, the kind of spot that means something to you rather than something you’ve seen on Pinterest. Tall grass, trees, open fields. The sort of place that looks effortlessly beautiful in photographs because it genuinely is.

Olivia and Scott were exactly the kind of couple who make this job a pleasure. Relaxed, warm, completely comfortable with each other, just the two of them enjoying a summer afternoon together before one of the biggest day of their lives.

And then there was Loki.

For anyone who’s ever tried to photograph a dog, you’ll know it can go one of two ways. Loki however was an absolute professional. Brilliantly behaved, and entirely unbothered by the camera pointed at him. West Highland White Terriers are already photogenic at the best of times and against the long summer grass with the light catching his coat, he was practically modelling.

I’m not going to say that i’m looking forward to photographing Olivia & Scotts Wedding because given that this has taken me so long to post, i’ve already captured it and it was beautiful! It was at St Peter’s Church in Kinver then High Grosvenor House in Bridgnorth, full blog post coming soon.

In the meantime, if you’re planning an engagement shoot in Kinver or anywhere across the West Midlands (dogs very much welcome) get in touch here or take a look at the engagement portraits page to find out more about how it all works. There’s also lots of other engagement photoshoots on the Blog if you’re searching for ideas.
