Some weddings are about the grand gestures. The elaborate details, the grand venues, the hundreds of guests. Zona and Scott’s wedding at The Fox Inn at Stourton in August 2025 was about something quieter and more important than any of that – two people, completely in love, surrounded by the people who matter most. And a cheeky Disaronno in a mug before the ceremony, obviously (good move Zona!).
Getting Ready at The Fox Inn
Bridal prep had everything. Nerves settled with a very sensible Disaronno – served in a mug, which is exactly the right vessel for the job at a wedding. Emotional tears that set the tone for the whole day and Zona doing a little dance to herself to get psyched up.
These are the moments I’m there for, not just the posed shots, not the formal portraits, but the real, unguarded, human stuff that happens before anyone’s watching – or thinks anyone’s watching.
The Ceremony
The ceremony at The Fox Inn at Stourton was genuinely moving. Tears and tissues from the very start, the kind of emotional ceremony where you can feel how much it means to everyone in the room, not just the couple. Zona and Scott were completely present for every moment of it, and it showed.
Afterwards, the hugs. Hundreds of them. The kind of post-ceremony love where guests queue up just to hold these two people and tell them what they mean to them. You can feel the warmth of a couple’s relationships in those moments. It’s one of my favourite things to photograph and Zona and Scott had it in abundance.
The Fox Inn at Stourton
The Fox Inn at Stourton is a beautiful venue. It’s a classic Staffordshire countryside pub setting with genuine character and warmth. The wooden hexagon in the grounds, framed with flowers, made for some of the most beautiful couple portraits of the day. It’s one of those structures that’s so perfectly composed it almost photographs itself.
The venue is perfect for couples who want something relaxed, intimate and full of personality rather than overly grand and formal.
The Lotus Elise
Not every wedding has a Lotus Elise. Zona and Scott’s did and we absolutely made the most of it. Scott is very proud of the car and wanted it to be a part of the photographs, no problem. The bonnet gave us one of my favourite shots of the day: the two of them kissing, caught almost as a silhouette in the reflection.
Wedding Photography Packages
Zona and Scott chose the Mercury package – four hours of coverage from thirty minutes before the ceremony. Proof, if it were needed, that you don’t need a full day to come away with photographs that mean everything. Four hours, the right moments, and a couple who were completely themselves – that’s all it takes.
If you’re planning a smaller, more intimate wedding and wondering if you need or can budget for a photographer for the whole day then the Mercury package could be perfect for you. Take a look at the wedding pricing page to see what’s included, or get in touch and we’ll find the right option for your day.

Zona and Scott – thank you for having me. It was a privilege to spend the day with you both.
